What happens in the book Charlotte's Web?

  • Charlotte's Web is a story about a little pig named Wilbur who was born the runt of the litter.

  • Mr Arable (the farm owner) decides to kill him.

  • However, his daughter Fern begs him to let the pig live and promises that she will look after him.

  • Wilbur goes to live at Fern's uncles farm where he meets Charlotte who says that she will help save him from slaughter in the spring.

  • Charlotte promises to help Wilbur.

  • Charlotte writes the words "Some Pig" in the middle of her web, which creates interest in Wilbur as people think he's special.

  • Charlotte then arranges a meeting for all of the animals to think of new messages for Charlotte to spin in her web.

  • The next word Charlotte writes in her web is "Terrific" then "Radiant".

  • The last word that Charlotte writes in her web is "Humble".

  • Wilbur then finds out that Charlotte has made an egg sac which contains 514 eggs.

  • He later finds out that Charlotte is not very well and will soon not be around.

  • Wilbur goes to the county fair where he wins a special prize.

  • Back at the farm the season changes and Wilbur is still alive and continues to make friends with new animals that come to the farm.
